TRUSTED BY THESE WELL KNOWN BRANDS AND HUNDREDS MORE.
Hammersmith Bridge of 1887 has never rated among London’s more popular Thames crossings. This large suspension bridge was designed by the engineer, Joseph Bazalgette. Why property developers shouldn't underestimate the power of hard wood floors
It's expensive, it's high maintenance and it will scratch easily. These are just some of the myths surrounding real wood flooring that people believe. Property developers in particular, including those looking to renovate and sell their homes quickly, are often guilty of such thoughts too.
However, real wood flooring could actually be the best option (all the above are myths by the way).
Real wood flooring can certainly cost more initially when compared to other products, but over the long term, it's actually one of the most cost-effective options out there. When properly installed and maintained, wood floors can last for hundreds of years while other options often need replacing every 10-20. Why should this matter to property developers? You're offering your potential buyers a guarantee - look after the floor and you'll never need to replace it. In most cases, property values have risen because of real wood flooring, so aside from making the room look far more attractive, you could earn back your original costs too.
As for the maintenance and the scratches, it's actually fairly easy to look after real wood floors. Routines should be established - daily sweeping, weekly vacuuming, monthly cleaning with a special wood floor cleaner, a maintenance coat every 3-5 years and a wood sanding and refinish every decade. A wood floor sanding company will provide the best finish and they'll even be able to restore wood floors, and in places, repair wood floors too.
Scratches won't be an issue if care is taken inside the home too. Lift, don't drag heavy furniture when moving it around inside, lay rugs in areas with heavy footfall (hallways), and avoid walking on your wood floors with sports shoes or high heels. Sounds like common sense right? It is.
If you're looking to renovate and make money on a property, wood flooring shouldn't be disregarded. It can look incredible and as the above shows, it's far easier to maintain than most people think. If in doubt, speak to a floor sanding service like us. We can give you more information about maintenance, including floor sanding and polishing, as well as floor varnishing.
